“Before getting ready, we dined on a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken (extra crispy) just to keep our energy up,” when your couple says this to you, you know the wedding is about to be a celebration to remember! Some weddings keep us smiling from the beginning till the end, while others leave us fascinated and wide-eyed, and there are some that make us feel so lucky as wedding photographers – Aladdin and Rick’s wedding at The O’Donnell House was a mix of all three for both of us. There was so much love and laughter between their friends and family. Everyone was beaming with love and joy, and in these moments, we can’t help but feel it all too. The couple’s friends and family showed up with a 100% commitment to celebrating them and their union, and it was simply an honor for us to turn Aladdin and Rick’s special day into forever memories for them.
Brought together by a common Facebook friend, Aladdin, and Rick, who now live part-time in Chicago and part-time in Palm Springs, realized that they had very different journeys in life. One being a city kid, and the other a farm boy. But like any two souls meant to be together, they managed to find a balance in these differences. Their shared interests and a desire to make each other laugh kept them close.
The grooms, who chose the historic and one of the most sought-after venues in Palm Springs to say their I dos, wanted their wedding to be simple, fun, and intimate. Making it magical and memorable was also on their agenda, and in our opinion, they succeeded with flying colors. The O’Donnell House offers exquisite views of the desert, which we were able to incorporate into the backdrop of many photographs from the wedding. The immaculately maintained garden, which housed beautiful florals, doubled up as stunningly colorful backgrounds for the ceremony photos too.
Aladdin and Rick wore classic black tuxedos that they accessorized with heirloom cufflinks, matching ties, and fun suspenders. Another perfect addition to their attire were matching socks that read, “So you don’t get cold feet.” We love how they added their own little bits to their attire. The grooms got ready together and even helped each other with some finishing touches to their outfits. The getting ready photos came out looking so adorable, with the grooms glowing with love and happiness and just making each other laugh throughout.
We do love a stylish couple entry. And Aladdin and Rick totally nailed theirs! One of the memorable moments from the wedding was when Aladdin and Rick descended the staircase into the garden filled with their family and friends as The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack played in the background. That’s also when we experience one of the most beautiful moments to photograph at their wedding. I still remember, it was when everyone’s attention turned towards the couple as they started to walk down the aisle together. You can just feel the joy in that setting through those images.
After the ceremony and some more gorgeous couple portraits and solo shots, Aladdin and Rick spent time mingling with their guests and showing off their moves on the dance floor. When we asked them for any advice they wanted to share with couples planning their wedding, the couple, who till this point was smiling from ear to ear, replied, “For a more drama-free wedding experience, consider not inviting your ex… enough said.” So, couples, if you connect to Aladdin and Rick’s story, here’s their message to you! The couple also added, “Make the wedding planning fun! Enjoy the process, and don’t sweat the details. Above all, marry someone you not only love but also like.” We love how they easily managed to blend practicality and romance into one sentence with this advice!
Aladdin and Rick, thank you for choosing us as your wedding photographers. We were so happy to be a part of your wedding and loved photographing all the little details you had so carefully planned and curated. We wish you a happy and blissful married life together and hope that you continue to make each other laugh forever!
