The coronavirus pandemic truly changed weddings – not just for couples but even for wedding photographers. Even though couples got creative and found alternatives to their grand wedding plans, the lack of group hugs definitely made me miss those pre-COVID weddings. I don’t know about you, but as soon as I start looking back at wedding photos from the pre-COVID era, nostalgia kicks in almost instantly. And that’s exactly how I feel looking at Jorja and Jacob’s February 2020 wedding, before masks became a mandate and guests lists had to be cut in half. The couple has a beautiful wedding at the La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta & Bougainvillea Estate, Indio. I had been thinking of sharing their gorgeous wedding images with you for a long time, and finally, here they are!
After photographing their engagement session at the Lovers Lane in San Francisco, I had already developed a great relationship with Jorja and Jacob. So, I was already pretty excited to be their wedding photographer too. And seeing how their wedding was mainly about having fun with their friends and letting love flow freely, I knew that they were my kind of couple!
La Quinta Country Club Wedding Photography
Their wedding started in style and culminated in a fascinating sparkler exit! Everything in between was focused on simply having the time of their lives. Jorja and Jacob had their rehearsal dinner at the Bougainvillea Estate and got ready there on the morning of their wedding too. Even though the couple was so excited for the wedding day, they went the traditional way and waited to see each other while walking down the aisle.
Jorja and Jacob’s wedding was definitely one of those events where I really felt the “love in the air.” It was not just because of the love that the couple shared, but also how much they loved their people. And the photographs I got of the bride and groom with their bridal party are proof! One of my favorite moments of the day was when a giant bridal party group hug happened organically after the ceremony. It was so nice to see them all come together to celebrate the union of their friends. Fingers crossed for when group hugs can finally make a comeback and not violate any health regulations! They are undoubtedly one of the best moments to photograph at weddings.
There were so many sweet moments between family and friends as well. The speeches from their best man and the maid of honor were so moving because the relationships were so deep and meaningful. Jorja’s parents and brother got emotional after the ceremony. It was heartwarming to see them adoring their girl like that. They were all wiping their eyes and noses but also laughing out of joy. And I managed to capture these few intimate moments into forever memories.
It wasn’t just the bride who was showered with love from her parents. The groom got some love too! I caught Jacob’s mom looking at him with so much love during the family photos. I honestly just felt lucky to be surrounded with so much genuine love and care! All of it translated so easily into the photos too. My models hardly required any posing tips.
Also, another adorable addition to Jorja and Jacob’s wedding images was their dog, Jasper! We got some super cute shots of him (be prepared to go “aww”) with Jorja before she got ready. There are simply too many great memories from this wedding. The moving speeches by the couple’s friends, the epic dance moves – they are all etched into my memory.
